Acorns for the Three Counties, on the Bath Road in Worcester, is the chosen charity for Cotswold Inns and Hotels due to very close family ties, and having now supported the charity for over 5 years, we have raised nearly £50,000 in total from a variety of staff initiatives, charity events and kind donations from guests.
This year, fundraising efforts stepped up a notch as our Managing Director, Paul Davis, took on the challenge of a lifetime – the London Marathon. Paul successfully completed the Marathon in 4:51:36 and the fundraising surrounding this event helped Cotswold Inns and Hotels raise a staggering £18,085.72.
The money raised will pay for a full refurbishment of the multi-sensory room at Acorns for the Three Counties, as well as replacing and updating the existing sensory equipment.
Multi-sensory therapy at Acorns is provided by trained physiotherapists and uses a combination of light, sound and touch to offer children and young people with cognitive and sensory impairments and other challenging conditions the opportunity to enjoy and control a variety of sensory experiences.
On Thursday 16th June, Mandie Fitzgerald, Community Fundraising Manager for Acorns, visited The Broadway Hotel in Worcestershire to receive the cheque.
She said: “We rely on the generosity of the local community for the nearly £10 million it costs to provide our care every year, so we’re hugely grateful to Paul and all the staff at Cotswold Inns for their commitment and support.
“The multi-sensory room is an important part of the care we provide at the hospice, opening up a whole new world for children and young people; generating a relaxing and calming experience, but also providing stimulation.”
